
DUNN, James J. - Rev.
REV. JAMES J. DUNN Was born at Malahide, Dublin Co., Ireland, June 9th, 1841, and came to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1819, and lived there until Aug. 24, 1857, when he entered Mt. St. Mary’s College, Emmettsburg, Maryland; graduating June 1863, while the armies of the North and South were gathering in the neighborhood for the decisive battle of Gettysburg, receiving the degree of A. B. and A. M. In September of the same year he entered the Theological Seminary attached to the college in order to prepare for the Priesthood, and was ordained Priest Oct. 26th, 1866, meanwhile teaching Latin and Greek in the college. He staid in the college as Professor of Latin and Greek until Sept. 1867. when he went to Oil City as assistant Priest in St. Joseph’s Church. In June 1868 he was sent to Petroleum Centre as resident Pastor, and there remained until transferred to the charge of St. Bridget’s Church at Meadville, March 4, 1874, where he still officiates.
