PEIFFER, Samuel
150th P.V.I., Co.I
Sergeant Peiffer was the regimental flagbearer on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg.
He was killed that day while holding the Stars and Stripes.
The GAR Post in Meadville was named in his honor and the statue of the Civil War soldier with the flag
in Meadville is a representation of Sergeant Peiffer.
He was the brother-in-law of Peter Kepler also of that unit.
