PEIFFER, Samuel
150th P.V.I., Co. I
Sergeant Peiffer was the regimental flag bearer on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg and was killed in that capacity on that day.
His brother- in-law, Peter S. Kepler, 18, was also in Co.I.
The GAR Post in Meadville was named in his honor and the statue of the soldier holding the flag in Meadville represents
him. There is a picture of him with the flag in the unit history.
