Pierre ROBINSON
Sergeant, US Army, 115th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division - Enlisted in Pittsburgh, PA on May 2nd 1941
Lived in Meadville, Crawford County, with his parents John Robinson and Blanche Robinson-Delalande between 1920 and 1941
Killed in the Normandy Landings, on June 7th 1944 - buried in the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, France
Pierre was the son of my grand-mother's sister Blanche Delalande (1885-1948). He was born from my grand-aunt Blanche's first marriage. She became a widow at the beginning of WWI, and a couple years later met and married John Robinson who had come from the USA to fight in France in 1917. John adopted Pierre. He took Blanche and Pierre back with him to Meadville in 1919. Pierre was brought up and lived in Meadville until WWII. My grand-parents André Artur and Albertine Delalande who lived in Granville on the south coast of Normandy in 1944, had a room ready for him, but unfortunately, all he could see of his native country were the monotonous beaches of the Normandy landings. He was killed on June 7th and never got to meet his younger cousins, my uncle, my aunts and my mother who were so eargerly looking forward to meet him. My grand-aunt Blanche never recovered from the loss of her son, she died in 1948 and is buried in Saint-Louis French Cemetery. I would love to hear from anyone in the Crawford County who might have known or heard of John, Blanche and Pierre Robinson, but I'm afraid they have long been forgotten.
