Enlisted in Company I, 83rd Infantry Regiment, PA on 27 Feb. 1864. He was discharged 7 June 1865.

He was born 18 Sep. 1849 in Bloomfield Twp., Crawford Co., PA to Thomas and Emelinn Amy. He died in Los Angeles, CA and is buried in the Los Angeles Veteran Cemetery.
