War of 1812 Veteran, married Charlotte Friedebaugh,

Served in the War of 1812 in Captain Samuel Winthrow's Company, 137th Regiment of the Meadville Light Infantry commanded by General David Mead. Stationed in Erie, PA as well as Buffalo and Black Rock, NY. Service Pension records S.O. 19445 and S.C. 19188. Awarded Bounty Land Wt. 96674-40-50 (40 acres) and Wt. 11259-120-55 (120 acres).

Husband to Charlotte Friebebaugh Smith. Children of George and Charlotte were: Robert, Mrs. Sarah (Sally) Fleek, John L., Charlotte, Mrs. Elizabeth Bidwell, Mrs. Rebecca Cole, George (Paddy), Thomas Friedebaugh, Mrs. Eleanor Rust, Andrew J., Mrs. Mary C. Cole, and Mrs. Candace Alexander

George Smith died 26 Dec 1886 and is buried in Smith Cemetery in East Mead Township.
