Gladys A. Rogers, 80, formerly of Hatchtown Road, Spartansburg, RD3, died Friday, June 11, 1993 at the Conner's Personal Care Home in Spartansburg, where she was a resident.
She was born on September 6, 1912 in Buffalo N,Y, a daughter of the late Fred and Nellie Newton King. Mrs. Rogers moved to the Spartansburg area as a young girl and has resided there since.
She and her husband owned and operated a dairy farm on Hatchtown Road for over 42 years retiring in 1973.
Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Spartansburg United Methodist Church and the Friendly Neighbor Club. She also enjoyed crocheting and dancing.
She is survived by a daughter Mrs. Edward (Carol) Staskiewicz, two sons, Durwood E.Rogers and Reggie G. Rogers, all of Spartansburg; one sister, Mrs. Kenneth (Doris) Rogers of Busti, N.Y.; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two nieces.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband,Elliott Rogers whom she married on June 29, 1929 in Meadville. She was also preceded in death by a son, Roland "Bob" Rogers on November 25, 1986 and a great-grandson.
Friends may call at the Spartansburg United Methodist Church on Monday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 3 p.m. with rev. J. Lee Baker, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.
Memorials may be made to the Spartansburg Volunteer Fire Dept., Spartansburg, Pa.16434.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bracken Funeral Home in Spartansburg.
